Trademark refusal rate in United States: Madrid System filings

199,365 international registrations on record designate United States. Among the 44,147 designations registered 2019–2022 (the resolved cohort we measure outcomes on), 95.9% received a provisional refusal, 1,046 (2.4%) are still refused outright, 92 partially, and 35,391 (80.2%) hold a grant of protection. That refusal rate is below the 4.4% median across the 60 most-designated offices.
